Asia's King of Talk Boy Abunda urges Filipino-Americans to vote forJessica Sanchez in the 11th season of the hit reality singing competition American Idol.
Boy Abunda, in today's episode of "the Buzz," has called on all the Filipinos in America to vote for the half-Pinoy half-Mexican/AmericanJessica Sanchez, who made it to the top 12 of "American Idol" season 11.
"Hindi ko naging kaugalian talaga na manghikayat ng sambayanan, lalo na po ang mga Pilipino sa Amerika, na iboto po ang sinumang nakakapasok sa 'American Idol' except this one," he said.
"I really think Jessica Sanchez is one of the most talented girls na nakapasok sa 'American Idol' na may dugong Pinoy. Iboto po natin siya," Abunda added.
Sanchez, whose mother hails from Bataan, received a standing ovation from the three judges of the show–Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler–after her impressive rendition of Whitney Houston's power ballad "I Will Always Love You."
Here are the judges' critique for Jessica's performance:
Randy Jackson said "Jessica is legit. This is one of the hardest songs in the world to sing but I think you may be one of the best talents in the whole competition."
Steven Tyler said "You just made 40 million people cry!"
Jennifer Lopez said "Just amazing. I don't know what to say. It was beautiful."
Even Interscope chairman and American Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine, who some people perceived as the new Simon Cowell, commented during the 400th episode of "Idol" that Sanchez' rendition of "I Will Always Love You" was the best performance throughout the show's 11-year history. He's just afraid that as Jessica receives rave reviews this early part of the show, she might get overconfident in the upcoming rounds.
Sanchez is the fifth Filipino-American who made it to the Top 12 ofAmerican Idol following Jasmine Trias, Camille Velasco, Ramiele Malubay, and last year's Thia Megia.
