Pilot episode of "Temptation of Wife" airs tonight, October 29

Starring the kapuso network's Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, leading men Dennis Trillo, Rafael Rossel and actress Glaiza de Castro, "Temptation of Wife" tells of a wife, Angeline Santos (Marian), who endures the torment of being a submissive housewife to an indifferent and infidel husband Marcel (Dennis Trillo) for the sake of saving their marriage. In the end, her patience snaps and she decides she's had enough.  She rises from her meek and gentle stature and dons on a new personality -- that of a sophisticated and confident woman -- thanks to the help of a dashing gentleman named Nigel (Rafael), who's got feelings for her.  Angeline takes advantage of her new stature to take revenge against her husband and his paramour, Heidi (Glaiza), who also happens to be Angeline's former bestfriend.

Directed by Dominic Zapata, the series also stars Rio Locsin as Minda; Raymond Bagatsing as Romeo; Michelle Madrigal as Chantal Armada; Antonio Aquitania as Leo; Ayen Munji-Laurel as Lady Armada;Bettina Carlos as Madel; Rez Cortez as Abner and Ms. Cherie Gil as Stella.

Although the Philippine version won't deviate much from the original, some elements and characters have been adapted to suit the taste of local viewers.  The story was tweaked a bit to fit into the local context with the hope of making it more relatable to the Filipino audience.

DANIEL CRAIG AIMS FOR BEST JAMES BOND EVER IN “SKYFALL”

Daniel Craig leads the cast of Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' "Skyfall," his third film as James Bond 007. "Bond is actually remarkably difficult part to play, because he says very little, and the moment you make him say too much, it's not Bond anymore," says Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes.

"He operates on instinct a lot of the time. He has his own inner demons and he doesn't reveal them to other characters, and yet the audience needs to be aware of them, especially in this particular movie," Mendes adds. "In `Skyfall,' the audience has got to see him, in a sense, fall apart and put himself back together again, but none of the other characters see what's really going on behind the curtain. Daniel's done that, I think, brilliantly."

It was Craig who invited his friend, Mendes, to direct "Skyfall." "When we started talking about it, I felt a connection with someone who had exactly the same enthusiasm and respect for the Bond films that I did," says Craig. "And, of course, I deeply respect Sam as a director. I said to him, 'This is going to be a new experience for you – trust me, because I made two of them and it was a very new experience for me. Nothing can quite prepare you.'"

"Daniel's one of the greatest actors that we've ever had," says producer Barbara Broccoli. "He has inhabited the role of Bond and he's pushed it in directions that one wouldn't have thought possible. Starting with `Casino Royale' and going into `Quantum of Solace,' and certainly in this film, he really reveals Bond's inner life in a way that we've never seen before, in a way that author Ian Fleming does in the books, where you really feel as if you understand the inner turmoil and complexity and conflicts. With this screenplay and with Sam, we've unearthed a lot of the emotion connected to Bond's own past and mined the dramatic tension that stems from that."

Broccoli explains that "Skyfall" explores the relationship between Bond and M (Judi Dench) – perhaps more than in any of the 22 previous films. "We wanted to really mine the relationship between Bond and M, because it is the most significant relationship he has in his life," says the producer. "M is the only person who represents authority to him. You have two extraordinary actors, and we just thought - let's go all the way. It's worked extremely well. It's a very emotional story."

"Their relationship is based on mutual respect," says Craig. "They both know that every time the chips are down, one of them will have to make a sacrifice – it's difficult to have a touchy-feely relationship with someone under those circumstances. But at the same time – and Sam was very keen on this – Bond's always had in the back of his mind that there's a bit more. It's something he never shows, but the connection is there – and I get a kick out of that as an actor, to play a life you can't show."

Bond audiences expect that a Bond film will deliver plenty of action, and off course, no actor had more stunts than Craig. Co-star Javier Bardem describes watching Craig take on the role: "There is some physicality to the role that you have to be prepared to do, but of course mine compared to Daniel's was nothing. And he does the action scenes so easily – From the outside, watching him, I was thinking, 'If I were you, I wouldn't be doing that!'" Bardem laughs. "I mean, I did a little bit, but nothing in comparison to with what Daniel did."

"Daniel's an extremely hard working actor, probably the hardest working actor I've ever seen," says producer Michael G. Wilson. "And it's not only the mental preparation, but the physical preparation. He works out like a demon, like a professional athlete. He is really committed to the role, committed to being Bond."

Broccoli adds, "Daniel contributes a great deal to designing the action and the fights in particular and he's the one who really pulls it off, because he wants to do as much of it as he possibly can. We were in Turkey for the train sequence and I had my heart in my mouth the whole time; he and Ola Rapace were fighting on the roof of a moving train and the moves that they were doing were just heart stopping. Daniel's the reason why the action works as well as it does because he sells it, he's up there and I think audiences know that."

Opening across the Philippines on Oct. 31, "Skyfall" is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

CINEMA ONE 'S HALLOWEEN OFFERING: “SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION FROM LILIA CUNTAPAY”: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HORROR MOVIE EXTRA

Screened at the seventh Cinema One Originals Film Festival, Cinema One brings back the  lovable "Dakilang Extra" Lilia Cuntapay through the award-winning  "Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay" in a special theatrical run in SM Theaters this Halloween beginning October 31.

The critically acclaimed movie that won numerous awards features Cuntapay's life as an often disregarded old woman who portrays ghostly and sinister roles in various Filipino horror films. Writer-director Antoinette Jadaone's directing style aims to show who Lilia Cuntapay is, outside her big horror façade. "This movie will definitely be about the heartbreaks and the joyous life of Lilia Cuntapay," Jadaone said.

"I talked to Nanay Lilia and reminded her that in this film, she's not a paranormal figure. She won't show her finesse in horror but rather what she really is in real life. I infused some animations and surrealism in this movie, but it still remains truthful," she added.

Cuntapay won the Best Actress award at the Cinema One Originals awards while the film won Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Audience Choice Award, Special Jury Prize and Best Supporting Actress for Geraldine Villamil.

"Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay" is Jadaone's first full-length feature. The film veers away from Cuntapay's same-old-story role.

According to a review written by Karen of audreymagazine.com, "Six Degrees will have you laughing and feeling good throughout. Whether her portrayal in this mockumentary is just part of the show or not, Cuntapay comes off as very adorable, quirky, and imaginative."  Both the film and Cuntapay as a celebrity were big hits with the festival audience in Italy and South Korea.

Get to know the popular white lady behind most horror films on "Six Degrees of Separation From Lilia Cuntapay" showing in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, SM Fairview, SM Mall of Asia, SM Southmall, SM Manila, SM Marikina, SM Sta. Mesa, and SM Bacoor beginning October 31.

“Bully” film to launch anti-bullying campaign

The Jesuit Basic Education Commission (JBEC), in cooperation with Solar Entertainment, is bringing the acclaimed documentary "Bully" to the Philippines. The film, directed by Lee Hirsch, will have a limited theatrical run in November, after the by-invitation premiere on November 13, 6:30 PM, at Robinson's Galleria Cinema 4.

The film focuses on the alarming rise in bullying faced by teenage students in America. It chronicles the experiences of victims in high schools in Georgia, Iowa, Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma, focusing on the cases of Tyler Long and Ty Smalley, both of which tragically ended in suicide.

JBEC will use this powerful documentary to launch the anti-bullying campaign, "Not in Our School," endorsed by the popular sportsman, Chris Tiu.  The advocacy is aligned with the DepEd's Child Protection Policy which seeks to defend the student from any form of abuse, including bullying. In light of recent local and international headlines about bullying, this film can be a timely wake-up call for all involved: parents, teachers, administrators, and especially students.

In addition to its theatrical screening, JBEC is offering several Saturday block screenings in Robinson's Galleria for schools who want to show the film exclusively for their community. In addition, schools can also sponsor campus screenings for a minimal fee. To enhance its use as a formative tool, JBEC will provide teachers and parents with a discussion guide to facilitate processing of the complex message of the movie. Interested schools may contact jbec@xs.edu.ph or moviesnevents@solar-entertaiment.com for bookings.

Fr. Johnny Go, SJ, JBEC chair, hopes this campaign will lead schools to adopt a pro-active stance against bullying, with each stakeholder committing and contributing to a nurturing and bully-free school environment that is the right of every student.  "We hope this movie can reach as wide an audience as possible, especially among our students," he says. "At the very least, it should heighten awareness of this issue and begin productive discussions and reflections about a real problem that can no longer be ignored."

The "Bully" hits theaters starting November 14. It is rated PG-13 by the MTRCB.

MOVING TALE ON FAMILY DYSFUNCTION IN “TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE”

Academy Award® winner Clint Eastwood ("Million Dollar Baby," "Unforgiven"), Oscar® nominee Amy Adams ("The Fighter," "Doubt"), and Justin Timberlake ("The Social Network," "Friends with Benefits") star in Warner Bros.' "Trouble with the Curve," which marks the feature film directorial debut of Eastwood's longtime producing partner Robert Lorenz.

In the film, Gus Lobel (Eastwood) has been one of the best scouts in baseball for decades, but, despite his efforts to hide it, age is starting to catch up with him. Nevertheless, Gus—who can tell a pitch just by the crack of the bat—refuses to be benched for what could be the final innings of his career.

He may not have a choice. The front office of the Atlanta Braves is starting to question his judgment, especially with the country's hottest batting phenom on deck for the draft. The one person who might be able to help is also the one person Gus would never ask: his daughter, Mickey (Adams), an associate at a high-powered Atlanta law firm whose drive and ambition has put her on the fast track to becoming partner. Mickey has never been close to her father, who was ill-equipped to be a single parent after the death of his wife. Even now, in the rare moments they share, he is too easily distracted by what Mickey assumes is his first love: the game.

Against her better judgment, and over Gus's objections, Mickey joins him on his latest scouting trip to North Carolina, jeopardizing her own career to save his. Forced to spend time together for the first time in years, each makes new discoveries—revealing long-held truths about their past and present that could change their future.

Timberlake is Johnny Flanagan, a rival scout who has his sights on a career in the announcer's booth…and has eyes for Mickey. The main cast also includes John Goodman as Gus's old friend and boss, Pete Klein, and Matthew Lillard as Phillip Sanderson, the Braves' associate director of scouting.

"'Trouble with the Curve' is a story about how we deal with what life throws at us," describes director/producer Robert Lorenz. "It has characters in whom we can all see a bit of ourselves, reaching those moments in life when we are faced with re-evaluating priorities: the importance we put on our careers, our friendships and our family."

At the center of the story are a father and daughter whose lives have taken them in opposite directions. Even when they're together, they are worlds apart. But now, circumstances are forcing them to face their differences on common ground.

"In any family, even when things get tough, there are always ties that connect you," says the film's star and producer Clint Eastwood. "You just have to find a starting point to begin to close the gap."

Opening across the Philippines on November, "Trouble With The Curve" is distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

NEW COMEDY FINDS LOVE AT “THE END OF THE WORLD”

We've all imagined the end of the world – along with the attendant floods, fires, earthquakes, pandemic viruses, and the asteroid hurtling towards Earth which will be destroyed at the last possible moment by human intervention of epic proportions. That is not the end of the world as writer-director Lorene Scafaria sees it.

In writing her feature directorial debut, Focus Features' "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" starring Steve Carell and Keira Knigtley, Scafaria was more intrigued by what could happen to ordinary people – and how they would interact with each other – in the days preceding The Event.

Scafaria found herself casting a cockeyed glance at "apocalyptic tradition." She notes, "I had a small obsession with 'the end is near,' and a larger obsession with love. So it became a fun challenge to see what would happen when worlds collide – so to speak. I figured I would keep the screenplay at a very human level in scope and tell a story of relationships; what people would do, and how a person with feelings towards another person would be affected."

The writer/director didn't necessarily want to make "a 'road movie.' I kept trying not to write it as that, though eventually I gave in and started to embrace the concept a little more – but I keep halting the lead characters' road trip because of basic things like gas. They find themselves in some pickles along their route."

A couple of drafts were written, but work stopped and Scafaria's perspective changed once her father fell ill and passed away. She reflects, "I took six months off. Then I came back and rewrote the script, concentrating more on the concept of time – having it, and losing it." Ultimately, she offers, "There is a lot in this story that is me; of the two lead characters, I'm more the Penny type, but I have a strong dose of Dodge in me as well.

"Up until this tipping point, these two people have lived their lives very differently. As much as Dodge has avoided life, Penny has been diving in head first. Together, they find they can face the end of the world."

Producer Mark Roybal notes that he found the script "wholly original and surprising. The story has a big concept, yet never loses sight of its humanity because Lorene is always in tune with evoking real emotions. I was tremendously moved by it – I found myself laughing and crying by the end of the script, which is very rare. I think my strong response was emotional because Lorene is telling a story about a thrilling, thought-provoking situation in which you are potentially going on the most important journey of your life by yourself."

Well before the whole world and/or one's own life might end, every one of us ponders how we will face that moment. Steve Carell says, "I think Lorene Scafaria's story beautifully transcends aspects of the normalcy of life. The movie is about finding the value of life, and finding what makes you happy."

Scafaria reflects, "Time is the great equalizer, and our time here is limited. Everyone can relate to that, and hopefully learn from it. One of the most precious things you can offer to another person is your time."

Keira Knightley offers, "For these two, it's about what suddenly becomes important. I think what's actually being said here is, why do we not live as we should live? Why do we not see what things are important? Why do we not spend time with the people that we love? We act as if we have 'tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow,' but what if we don't?

"That's why I found the story so optimistic; aside from the occasional riot, positive things will come forth from humanity at the turning point."

"Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" will be shown soon exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt3 and Trinoma).

Now, it's time for pay back and Angeline will do everything to taste the bittersweet part of her revenge. How will Marcel react to a woman who looks exactly like his supposed dead wife, Angeline? TOM HARDY, FROM “DARK KNIGHT RISES” TO “LAWLESS”

Fresh from terrorizing Gotham City as the formidable villain Bane in the blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises" last July, Tom Hardy is back on the big screen as a ruthless gangster in The Weinstein Company's epic thriller "Lawless."

To be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma) starting Oct. 24, "Lawless" is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: three bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. Based on author Matt Bondurant's fictionalized account of his family, The Wettest County in the World, the film gathers an ensemble of gifted, dynamic new-generation stars – LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke and Mia Wasikowska – alongside two of the finest actors of their generations, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman.

A riveting, intense story of crime and corruption, loyalty and love, brutality and tenderness, "Lawless" is a rich addition to the American gangster canon.

Shia LaBeouf had been looking for opportunities to work with acclaimed English actor Tom Hardy. The two had struck up a friendship after LaBeouf sent Hardy a fan email about his arresting performance in the crime biopic "Bronson," and had begun forwarding scripts back and forth to one another. LaBeouf sent Bondurant's novel The Wettest County in the World to Hardy, followed by Nick Cave's screenplay for "Lawless." Hardy loved them both, and proved to be ideal casting for the role of quiet, fearless and fearsome Forrest Bondurant.

Director John Hillcoat was also keen to work with Hardy, whose reputation as an exceptional talent preceded him. "I kept hearing about this incredible guy called Tom Hardy. I started watching his work, and I was awestruck - he was amazing. I could also see Tom and Shia as brothers. And Tom's take on the character was quite audacious - he saw Forrest as the matriarch and the patriarch of the family, in the wake of their parents' deaths. He wanted to explore Forrest's softer side and play him in a quiet, contained way."

Hillcoat adds, "By taking on the roles of the mother and the father of this family, he was really responsible and very caring, especially towards his brothers. But because of the time and the culture, he is unable to articulate it. Tom's approach was very much about the different emotional textures there were to Forrest and how distilled and controlled he was. It was a unique and fascinating attitude towards the character."
Tom Hardy has quickly become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors. He most recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's critically hailed "Inception," alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page.
Hardy rejoined Nolan on "The Dark Knight Rises" where he played the villain role of Bane opposite Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman.
Other films include "Warrior," opposite Joel Edgerton, the story of two estranged brothers facing the fight of a lifetime, an inspirational action drama from director Gavin O'Connor; also "This Means War," and the Cold War thriller, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" with Colin Firth and Gary Oldman.

JAVIER BARDEM BRINGS ON THE MENACE IN “SKYFALL”

As Spain's most internationally acclaimed actor, Javier Bardem has captivated audiences worldwide with his diverse performances. In 2008, Bardem received the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actor for his chilling portrayal of sociopath killer, Anton Chigurh, in Joel and Ethan Coen's No Country for Old Men.

Now, Bardem plays Silva, the man who puts MI6 – Britain's secret intelligence agency -- at risk, in Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' "Skyfall," the 23rd 007 James Bond installment which is the longest-running film franchise in history.
In "Skyfall," James Bond's (Daniel Craig) loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

When Bond's latest assignment goes gravely wrong and agents around the world are exposed, MI6 is attacked forcing M to relocate the agency. These events cause her authority and position to be challenged by Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes), the new Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – aided only by field agent, Eve (Naomie Harris) – following a trail to the mysterious Silva whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves.

Bardem is no stranger to playing dark and complex characters. "When I read the script, I was immediately drawn to the story and the character's possibilities. To work with Sam Mendes and to be a part of his incredible cast and crew, I couldn't say no to an opportunity like this," says Bardem.

Director Sam Mendes says that the key to a great Bond villain is to strike a certain balance. "The performance has to be real enough, but also have flamboyance," he says. "The great ones – the Dr. Nos', the Rosa Klebbs', the Goldfingers' – are ever-so-slightly theatrical and yet are all the more frightening because of it. For Silva, Javier allowed himself to be playful and mischievous, but never lost the danger, the mystery, the strangeness, the otherness. I think he's done something wonderful."

Bardem describes his character, Silva, as "An angel of death – a very clean-shaven person who happens to be rotten on the inside."

The Oscar®-winning actor explains finding the character inside the villain. "He has a very personal objective – he's not trying to destroy the world," he says. "And he is on a straight line to that objective: he is a man seeking revenge. It's about being focused on the one person he wants to eliminate."

"It's always about who's the person behind the character," he continues. "It would be very difficult for me to play a role that I just saw as some kind of symbol. In this case, there is a man suffering, a man full of pain and frustration, who simply wants to fix the situation. Within that journey, there was room to be funny or aggressive, but I could perfectly understand who he was, and that helped me to portray him."

Opening across the Philippines on Oct. 31, "Skyfall" is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. The Philippines' most successfully distributed canned TV series worldwide, "Pangako sa'Yo" ("The Promise"), will soon be localized in Cambodia after Cambodian Television Network (CTN) bought its format from ABS-CBN, the Philippines' leading and largest multimedia conglomerate.

"Pangako sa'Yo," produced by ABS-CBN in 2000, is one of the network's top-raters of all time, headlined by premiere Filipino actors Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa as Angelo (Rosales) and Yna (Hermosa).  The main characters will soon have their Cambodian counterparts as CTN targets to start production by the first quarter of 2013.

The adaptation of "Pangako sa'Yo" in Cambodia marks a milestone in Philippine broadcasting history, particularly for ABS-CBN that is known as the Philippine leader in producing world-class TV drama series. ABS-CBN now joins the ranks of the world's most competitive content suppliers with this format buy.

The landmark deal between ABS-CBN and CTN was made possible by ABS-CBN's International Distribution Division, which to date has sold over 30,000 hours of content, making it available to over 50 territories worldwide. ABS-CBN's canned programs have successfully penetrated territories in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Its most recent addition is Thailand where one of its top-rating drama series, "Lobo" ("She Wolf: the Last Sentinel") will soon debut as the first Philippine TV program to air on Thai television.

ABS-CBN International Distribution head Leng Raymundo said Philippine TV series, particularly ABS-CBN's drama series, have been widely received and distinctively known for their cast's international appeal, series length that adapts well to programmers' needs, and content with a universal appeal that people can relate to.

"The global viewers recognize and demand for ABS-CBN programs as they remain true to local cultural sensitivities. It has a definite global appeal, heart warming relatable stories that have high production values, and good-looking actors that cross borders," Raymundo said.

"Tayong Dalawa" ("The Two of Us") also made history as the first Filipino program in Singapore's telenovela belt while "Sana'y Wala ng Wakas" ("Timeless"), which is also topbilled by Rosales and Hermosa, was so well received by viewers in Malaysia that it even rated higher than hit US series "Smallville."

Among French-speaking territories, ABS-CBN's "Magkaribal" ("Rivals") dubbed in French is steadily gaining viewers.

ABS-CBN International Distribution was also the first to distribute content in Myanmar, when "My Girl" premiered in 2011.

Raymundo said the content ABS-CBN shows appeals to viewers from different parts of the world as more and more dealers express interest and acquire the network's various canned programs.

She added that the success of these international runs have turned some of the Filipino actors and actresses into celebrities in other countries.  Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa now have foreign fans from different countries after their series "Pangako sa'Yo" was distributed in over 20 territories since 2002. The show was aired on China's national television and rated second in overall local and foreign programs airing in the country.

Rosales recounted during one of his trips to Ghana how he was overwhelmingly received by his African fans. He was caught off guard and was so surprised that they would want to have their photos taken with him and would even call him by his character name. He was widely recognized in the territory that he didn't get to leave his hotel room for security purposes.

With its growing recognition in the global media distribution landscape, ABS-CBN International Distribution further expands its line-up of high-caliber programs and movies and offers them to more territories in the world.

Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have acquired rights to make a feature film based on the late Charles Schulz's beloved and iconic "Peanuts" franchise.  The agreement is the culmination of over two years of discussions – focused on the film's creative direction – between the Studio and members of the Schulz family.  The announcement was made by Vanessa Morrison, president of Twentieth Century Fox Animation.

The as yet untitled animated event will be released on November 25, 2015. 2015 will mark the 65th anniversary of the debut of the "Peanuts" comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the landmark television special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Charles Schulz drew the most popular and influential comic strip of all time, which was read everyday by 355 million people in 75 countries. In addition to the famous strip, Peanuts holiday television specials such as "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" have won Emmy's and continue to be among the highest rated prime time TV specials.

Steve Martino will direct the "Peanuts" feature; previously, he brought to the big screen (with Jimmy Hayward) Fox/Blue Sky's "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!"  and the recent box-office smash "Ice Age: Continental Drift."  The screenplay is by Craig Schulz and the writing team of Bryan Schulz & Cornelius Uliano.

Commented Vanessa Morrison:  "We are thrilled to partner with the Schulz family and Iconix and honored to bring the Peanuts characters to the big screen. This all started with our love and respect for the work of Charles Schulz. We thank the Schulz family and Iconix for letting Fox and Blue Sky bring his vision to new generations of film goers."

I am thrilled we will be partnering with Blue Sky/Fox to create a Peanuts movie that is true to the strip and will continue the legacy in honor of my father."

"This is a momentous step for the Peanuts brand.  The beloved characters, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole gang resonate with multiple generations all over the world," commented Neil Cole, CEO, Iconix Brand Group. "This film will give us a new medium in which to engage consumers globally and showcase the power of the Peanuts brand, " added Cole.

'Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles' is a horror adventure destined to be the benchmark by which films of its type will be judged

Filmmaking is about taking risks, says Erik Matti, writer and director of the biggest horror adventure of 2012, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles. What else would you call the movie's astronomical budget, the decision to shoot it entirely on green screen and have a bad boy character as the film's main protagonist?

The concept immediately appealed to lead actor Dingdong Dantes who is playing against type in this project. "Collaborating with Erik Matti and executive producer Dondon Monteverde allowed me to break out of the stereotype of my roles on TV and in the movies."

Dingdong plays Makoy, a devil-may-care guy who finds himself trapped in a situation that no person in his right mind would wish upon himself. When he comes to the province to reconcile with his estranged girlfriend Sonia (Lovi Poe), who is heavy with their firstborn, Dingdong's character must device a way to keep his loved ones from safe and alive from an army of aswangs. "It is such an ambitious project and I am happy that I accepted it," shares Lovi.

LJ Reyes who won raves as the town whore in this year's Cinemalaya entry Intoy Syokoy ng Kalye Marino, takes on the role of an aswang in Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles. "Direk Erik is a very brilliant director. He has an amazing mind. And very funny, too. The set never felt like a workplace."

From the get-go, the concept was clear-headed. Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles was designed as a siege film. "It was about a group of people with their own dynamics, trapped in one setting with the danger constantly hounding them outside of that setting," shares Direk Erik.

A co-production venture of Reality Entertainment, Agostodos Pictures, Reality Entertainment's sister companies and post-production arms PostManila and Mothership, and GMA Films, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles was not an easy endeavor to undertake.

"We were challenged because the movie was going to be shot entirely on green screen, the first time it's being done in the Philippines," says Dondon Monteverde.

Post-production work proved to be tougher. Monteverde says that they made the right decision to bide their time. "We wanted to make sure that we did things right especially in post production. We thought that the hard part of it was during the principal shoot but we realized that the post production stage was even harder because of the complexity we put in CG (computer graphics) and in the grading stage of the film."

The makers of Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles also insisted on giving the aswang experience a completely Pinoy flavor. Relates Dave Yu, visual effects director: "We wanted a different take on the aswang designs and stay away from what has been done before especially in Western movies. We don't want our creatures to look like werewolves or vampires."

The film's production designer Peter Collias who has worked on Hollywood productions like The Matrix, Moulin Rouge, Dark City, 10,000 BC and Ghost Rider believes that everyone involved in this landmark horror movie deserves a pat on the back. "We have fused great live action in a beautifully fabricated environment. We have managed to create strange and wonderful backdrops for the story to take place in. I also feel the relentless attention to detail regarding the modeling, texture and animating of the creatures will set a new benchmark for monsters design in the Philippines."

All things considered, Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles strengthens the long-held belief in the ingenuity and creativeness of Filipino artists.

"The effort of creating a digital world from scratch, the amazing creatures and the cohesion between live animation and CG will set this film apart from others of its kind."

Go see Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles when it opens in a theater near you on October 17. For more information on the movie, check out its website at www.theaswangchronicles.com, Facebook.com/the aswangchronicles, twitter.com/TIKTIKOct17

OSCAR-WINNER SAM MENDES DIRECTS “SKYFALL”

In approaching Columbia Pictures' "Skyfall," the 23rd James Bond adventure, the filmmakers were very attuned to the fact that 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of James Bond on film. They were determined that this entry in the longest-running film franchise in history would deliver everything that has made Bond, Bond: heart-stopping action, scene-stealing villains, beautiful Bond women, exotic locations, a killer theme, the Aston Martin DB5… and, of course, 007 himself, played by Daniel Craig.

But a Bond film is not a collection of puzzle pieces; these elements combine – like gin and vermouth, shaken, not stirred – to serve the story. For "Skyfall," bringing it all together is Academy Award®-winner Sam Mendes. "I knew that Sam would put everything behind it," says Craig, who marks his third film as Bond. "He would put all of his knowledge of movie making behind it, but also his knowledge and love of Fleming and Bond."

While Mendes might be best known for directing a different kind of movie, he says that high entertainment and artistic integrity are not mutually exclusive. "I have my own, personal relationship with Bond, which began when I was 9 or 10 years old – when `Live and Let Die' came out," he says. "We happen to be living in a time when it's possible to make a big, entertaining, glamorous, escapist movie that also says something about the world we live in. With Daniel's performances in `Casino Royale' and `Quantum of Solace,' James Bond feels like a real man in a real situation again. It reminded me of the way I felt when I watched the Sean Connery movies."

For the producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the anniversary brings with it added expectations. "It's our 50th anniversary and 23rd film so the pressure's on to make the best Bond ever. We have an extraordinary cast, an incredibly talented creative team and an emotionally charged script," says Wilson.

Broccoli adds that Mendes' relationship and history with the Bond films adds a personal element from the very start. "With his knowledge and history, he identifies with the audience – he knows what works and what an audience is expecting. And, frankly, that's great to watch on set," she says.

Throughout these 50 years, it has been the Broccoli family – first Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli and partner Harry Saltzman, and then Cubby's children, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli – who have been the overseers and caretakers of the James Bond film franchise. "Michael and Barbara are extraordinary because they work very well as a team," says Mendes. "Barbara has a remarkable skill for making people feel like she knows their name and knows what their issues are, and if there's ever a crisis, she's the one who will handle it. Michael brings an enormous amount of experience and wisdom, combined with such a gentle presence on the set – he never bullies or lectures. If you have an idea and are wondering, 'Has Bond done this before,' ask Michael – he knows."

It was Craig – with the support of Wilson and Broccoli – who invited his friend, Mendes, to direct the film. "When we started talking about it, I felt a connection with someone who had exactly the same enthusiasm and respect for the Bond films that I did," says Craig. "And, of course, I deeply respect Sam as a director. I said to him, 'This is going to be a new experience for you – trust me, because I made two of them and it was a very new experience for me. Nothing can quite prepare you.'"

"Skyfall" welcomes back screenwriters Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and introduces Academy Award®-winner John Logan to the Bond writing family. Logan explains, "I felt greatly encouraged by Sam and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson to make the screenplay as unique as I could, using my particular strengths as a writer. Coming from the world of theatre, for me, it has always been about character and dialogue. When you look over the vast panoply of Bond films, things tend to emerge, like a lightning bolt: great moments of dialogue, great moments of character interaction – whether it's Bond and `Goldfinger,' Bond and Blofeld, or Bond and Vesper Lynd. Those are the amazing scenes that just stop your heart because they're unexpected in what's considered a genre movie."

Of course, for each individual Bond film, it is the director who guides and shapes the picture. Mendes says he felt the freedom to put his own stamp on the legendary franchise. "I have been given an enormous amount of freedom – and I've never felt constrained or hidebound by the genre or the franchise," he says. "Part of that is Daniel and Judi Dench, both of whom I already knew well. Frankly, I'd love the two of them to be in any movie I directed. But part of it is also the enthusiasm with which the producers greeted new ideas about Bond and M and the franchise as a whole."
