Zombie Apocalypse Signs Rising: Where Will You Be When Zombies Attack?

Zombie Apocalypse is starting in Miami?

The news about the Miami cannibal attack became sensational in the US over the weekend as it sparked a conspiracy theory about the so-called “Zombie Apocalypse.”

The term was actually a title of a 2011 horror movie on Syfy channel inspired by fictional undead creatures popularized by hit movies such as "Dawn of the Dead" and tv series like "The Walking Dead."

Intimately tied to the conception of the modern zombie is the "zombie apocalypse", the breakdown of society as a result of zombie infestation, which has emerged as a prolific subgenre of apocalyptic fiction and been portrayed in countless zombie-related media post-Night. In a zombie apocalypse, a widespread (usually global) rise of zombies hostile to human life engages in a general assault on civilization. Victims of zombies may become zombies themselves. This causes the outbreak to become an exponentially growing crisis: the spreading "zombie plague/virus" swamps normal military and law enforcement organizations, leading to the panicked collapse of civilian society until only isolated pockets of survivors remain, scavenging for food and supplies in a world reduced to a pre-industrial hostile wilderness.

It's interesting to note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US issued a warning about the zombie apocalypse in 2011. Titled "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse," is a blog post of the agency that uses a zombie apocalypse scenario to raise public awareness on preparations for emergency situations. In a blog post titled "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse", the Director of the CDC's Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, Rear Admiral Dr. Ali S. Khan writes: "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency." Comparing the upcoming hurricane season and possible pandemics to "flesh-eating zombies" from the horror film Night of the Living Dead and the video game series Resident Evil, Dr. Khan recommends Americans prepare for natural disasters as they would have prepared for "ravenous monsters"

Now it seems like the Zombie Apocalypse is becoming a reality after the Miami Cannibal Attack: a homeless man named Rudy Eugene was shot and killed by police on Saturday, while chewing another man’s face off.

Eugene was caught by the police naked under a flyover in Miami chewing the face of another naked man. The police told him to stop but he did not listened. He was shot and killed while the other man was brought to the hospital.

This incident ignited the conspiracy theory about the Zombie Apocalypse.

Take note that in the last 12 days, similar incidents happened in Florida.

In chronological order, here’s what went down in the sunny state:

May 16 – According to a report by the Huffington Post, students and teachers at a Florida high school had to be decontaminated after breaking out in a mysterious rash.

May 21 – According to a report by MySuburbanLife.com, A man from Bellwood, Illinois, was arrested after allegedly biting an 18-year-old woman’s cheek.

May 23 – According to NBC San Diego, a man from Spring Valley, California was arrested for allegedly biting the tip off of his cousin’s nose off.

May 26 – According to ABC News, a Florida anesthesiologist allegedly banged his head against the inside of a cop car until he started bleeding following a DUI arrest last Saturday, the same day as the Miami cannibal attack. He then proceeded to allegedly spit blood in a police officer’s face.

These events have sparked a nationwide sensation making people think that what they’ve seen on movies like “Shaun of the Dead,” “Dawn of the Dead,” “Night of the Living Dead” and TV series “The Walking Dead” are coming true.

Here are more events that support the “Zombie Apocalpse” theory:
May 26 – According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, a man from Palm Coast, Florida, was arrested for allegedly biting the lips off one kitten and strangling another cat to death.

May 27 – According to the Daily Mail, a man from Hackensack, New Jersey, allegedly stabbed himself repeatedly in front of the police then began to pull his own guts out, and proceeded to throw his intestines at police officers.

These weird events happened in nearby locations just a period of 12 days since the breakout of a mysterious rash at a Florida High School. Is this really the beginning of “Zombie Apocalypse”?

It was a scene as creepy as a Hannibal Lecter movie.

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked, and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp Saturday, police said.

The horror began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building.

According to police sources, a road ranger saw a naked man chewing on another man’s face and shouted on his loud speaker for him to back away.Meanwhile, a woman also saw the incident and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and, seeing what was happening, also ordered the naked man to back away. When he continued the assault, the officer shot him, police sources said. The attacker failed to stop after being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Miami police were on the scene, which was just south of The Miami Herald building on Biscayne Boulevard. The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police have requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.

The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.

Tom Cruise Topbills New Musical Movie 'Rock of Ages'

            Tom Cruise, one of filmdom's brightest superstars, plays the fictional Stacee Jaxx, one of music's biggest stars, in New Line Cinema's epic musical "Rock of Ages."

             In the film, Stacee Jaxx is the rock god that every guy wants to be and that every woman wants to bed. The lead singer of Arsenal, Stacee is at a turning point in his career, and in his life. He's about to go solo, and his final show with the band is at The Bourbon Room. It's a homecoming of sorts, as he played his first gig there back in the day. But fame and fortune may have come too easily to the front man who, after years of indulgence, has become boozed up and blasé to the point of bored, and less than reliable when it comes to showing up for his own shows.

             The casting of Stacee Jaxx turned out to be somewhat serendipitous. "I was thinking to myself, 'Wouldn't it be cool if we got one of the biggest movie stars in the world to play one of the biggest rock stars in the world?'" Shankman reflects. "And, as luck would have it, I ran into Tom Cruise, told him I was directing this movie, that it was a musical, and that I was going to offer him this part. He said, 'Are you serious?' I said I was. Then I described Stacee to him and he laughed really hard. The next thing I knew, he was in, and I was making a musical with Tom Cruise."

To play the role, Cruise underwent a complete transformation, and Shankman admired his diligence. "From the moment he signed on, Tom started training his voice with an incredible vocal coach, Ron Anderson. I remember the first time we heard him sing. He's got this outrageous, four-octave range—turns out he has opera singers in his ancestry, so he's probably genetically predisposed to sing, but no one's ever asked him to before. I'm just the lucky recipient of this revelation, I suppose," he smiles.

"The joy at having discovered that he can sing was a huge relief," Shankman admits, recalling that both he and the actor had long wanted to collaborate on a project when "Rock of Ages" came along. "There was a moment when we were looking at each other and Tom said, 'Well, what if I can't sell this? Because I won't do it if it's not me singing.' With everything he does, from stunts to performing in front of an audience, it has to be him doing it. He believes his audience has come to expect that, and why bother doing it otherwise? But this is what he loves. He loves making movies and he wants to be really good, so he works harder than anybody at it."

"Tom is a rock god because he brings all of the star power that comes along with being Tom Cruise, and he's found a character that audiences have never seen before," Shankman concludes. He describes Stacee Jaxx as being "one of those man-children that no one ever says 'no' to. He's not a bull in a China shop. He's just a guy who doesn't even know what boundaries are. And his go-to has just become sex because that's the only thing he really knows anymore, but it's not because he wants anything."

The 66th Tony Awards to be Aired on Velvet

With all his awesomeness, Neil Patrick Harris returns to host the 66th Annual Tony Award which recognizes achievement in live Broadway theatre. This will be the third time that the How I Met Your Mother star, hosts the prestigious event. He previously served as host for both the 63rd annual Tony awards in 2009 and the 65th annual Tony awards in 2011.  As he did in 2011, Harris will also act as a producer, along with executive producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment. This year's Tony Awards will be broadcast live from The Beacon Theater in New York and will be aired exclusively on Velvet on June 11, 8:00 a.m.

"We are excited to have Neil Patrick Harris return as host of the TONY Awards," said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS Entertainment. "Neil is the ultimate showman. He brings great talent, energy and creativity to the Tony stage and usually a surprise or two. I can't wait to see what he has in store this year."

Unbeknownst to many, Harris is also a veteran of the theater. He has been seen on Broadway in Assassins, Proof and Cabaret. He also starred in the New York Philharmonic production of Company. Additional theater credits include roles in "All My Sons," "Tick, Tick... Boom," "The Paris Letter," "Sweeney Todd," and "Romeo and Juliet." He also made his theater directorial debut via the 2010 production of "Rent" at the Hollywood Bowl where he casted his "Beastly" co-star Vanessa Hudgens.

The Tony Awards is considered the highest U.S. theatre honor, the New York theatre industry's equivalent to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for motion pictures, the Grammy Awards for music and the Emmy Awards for television, and the Laurence Olivier Award for West End theatre in England.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of this year's Tony Awards," said Harris in a statement.  "Not only will I be shining a spotlight on the best that Broadway has to offer, but hopefully I'll score some free house seats to a show or 5."

'The Great Gatsby' Trailer Arrives!

From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby.” The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role.

“The Great Gatsby” follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks.

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis join the political fray in Warner Bros.' new comedy “The Campaign” from director Jay Roach (“Meet the Fockers”).

Synopsis: When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.

At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors’ support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.

As election day closes in, the two are locked in a dead heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care about is burying each other, in this mud-slinging, back-stabbing, home-wrecking comedy that takes today’s political circus to its logical next level. Because even when you think campaign ethics have hit rock bottom, there’s room to dig a whole lot deeper.

“The Campaign” stars Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott and Katherine LaNasa, with John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd and Brian Cox. Directed by Jay Roach and written by Chris Henchy & Shawn Harwell, from a story by Adam McKay & Chris Henchy & Shawn Harwell, it is produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jay Roach and Zach Galifianakis. Amy Sayres, Jon Poll and Chris Henchy serve as executive producers.

Opening across the Philippines this August, “The Campaign” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

First-Look: 'The Dark Knight Rises' Main Poster

             Warner Bros. has just released the main one-sheet art of its upcoming blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises," the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

             Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake.

             Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.

             The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer.
             In helming the film, Christopher Nolan is utilizing IMAX® cameras even more extensively than he did on "The Dark Knight," which had marked the first time ever that a major feature film was partially shot with IMAX cameras.

             "The Dark Knight Rises" is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures. Slated for release beginning July 19, 2012, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

'Arrow' - Promo Clip

The CW has released the first promo clip for "Arrow," which will air this fall on Wednesdays at 8:00-9:00 p.m. The show is described as follows:

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow -- a vigilante -- to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be -- flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle -- while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on -- and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.
