Maria Jose didn't know that the man she supposedly married would get her tangled up in a growing sibling rivalry between Bruno and Alejandro. Bruno, half-brother to Alejandro, is consumed by jealousy because their father left a vast fortune in the hands of Alejandro. Wanting to get rid of Alejandro and to get the inheritance money, he devised a wicked plan: marry Maria Jose under his brother's name, murder Alejandro so that his brother's fortune would now be transferred to her "widow" and then Bruno will now have the chance to persuade Maria Jose to give him the wealth that once belonged to Alejandro.
Alejandro meets an accident that led everyone to believe that he is dead. Bruno now has a chance to bring his plan into full swing. Victoria, Alejandro's mother, contacts Maria Jose to inform her about Alejandro's death. Shocked about the news, she flies to attend Alejandro's funeral. Meanwhile Bruno goes to Maria Jose's home town to threaten her father to become an accomplice. He then asks Maria Jose to give him the inheritance but she panics and leaves. Bruno tracks her down and forces her to comply to do his bidding and uses her father's life as a leverage. Unbeknownst to everyone, Alejandro was able to survive the accident and is now back in town.
Recovering from the accident and now having amnesia, Alejandro must figure out who Maria Jose is in his life. Will he be able to catch Bruno in the act? Will Maria Jose follow Bruno's orders even though it can harm Alejandro, the man she is slowly falling for?
