Xyriel Manabat Leads the Race in ‘Yahoo! OMG! Awards’

Kapamilya child wonder Xyriel Manabat continues to impress TV viewers and netizens as she leads the online voting in 'Yahoo! OMG! Awards 2012' where she is nominated in the category, 'Child Star of the Year.' As of June 28 (Thursday), the Kapamilya child wonder garnered 56% or more than half of the online votes for the said category.

Meanwhile, Xyriel continues to reign in the hearts of TV viewers this Saturday (June 30) in the continuation of her "Wansapanataym" special. In the 'Beauty is the Beast' episode, Xyriel takes on the role of Beauty, a little girl who belittles everyone who doesn't fit her beauty standards. As she continues to judge other people based on their physical appearances, fate punishes Beauty and made all her negative comments magically manifested on her. Will she finally learn that real beauty is not skin deep?

Together with Xyriel in the episode are Dominic Ochoa, Andrea del Rosario, Marikit Morales, Dexie Daulat, Beverly Salviejo, and Arlene Tolibas. It is written by Joel Mercado and directed by Tots Sanchez-Mariscal.

"Wansapanataym" is a part of ABS-CBN's "Bida Best Kid" campaign launched recently that aims to empower children by encouraging them to become who they want to be and the best that they can be. It doesn't only entertain and educate its young viewers with its values-oriented, child-friendly programs, but supports their dreams and aspirations as well.

THE CAMPAIGN” RELEASES NEW U.S. POSTERS

Warner Bros. has just released two new U.S. posters for
its upcoming comedy "The Campaign" starring Will Ferrell and Zach
Galifianakis.

Directed by Jay Roach, "The Campaign" also stars Jason
Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott and Katherine LaNasa, with John Lithgow, Dan
Aykroyd and Brian Cox. The election comedy bows in the Philippines
this August.

In the film, when long-term congressman Cam Brady
(Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a
pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain
influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty
Huggins (Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.

At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible
choice but, with the help of his new benefactors' support, a cutthroat
campaign manager and his family's political connections, he soon
becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry
about.

As election day closes in, the two are locked in a dead
heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care
about is burying each other, in this mud-slinging, back-stabbing,
home-wrecking comedy that takes today's political circus to its
logical next level. Because even when you think campaign ethics have
hit rock bottom, there's room to dig a whole lot deeper.

“Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” comes out in cinemas with a Simpsons short attached to the film when it opens on July 12 in cinemas nationwide.

Ice Age’s latest chapter in one of the most successful film franchises of all time brings together the visually epic and the emotionally powerful; the humorous and the heartfelt – plus the world’s most beloved prehistoric squirrel and the ultimate unconventional herd of this or any Age.

Interwoven with these epic tales of family exploits are the continuing adventures of Scrat, whose sole purpose in life – whose very existence – revolves around an acorn as elusive as it is cherished. Scrat’s quest for the nut has had consequences; in the first “Ice Age” Scrat’s obsession triggered the Ice Age itself. In ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, Scrat and the object of his pursuits are nothing less than the catalyst for a cataclysm. Forget what you’ve learned in geology about the continents forming as a result of massive tectonic turbulence and volcanic eruptions tearing land masses apart. ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT reveals that these seismic shifts came about from Scrat’s misadventures.

The film reunites us with Scrat as he’s going about his usual business: he has grabbed the acorn, set it down on the ground – and suddenly a mountain is torn apart and the earth itself opens up, separating land masses into the seven continents. Lindsay Lohan Accident: Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized After Crashing Her Porsche

Lindsay Lohan has been rushed at the Santa Monica UCLA hospital but is now fine and back to work after her black collided with an 18 wheeler tractor-trailer truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles on Friday, June 8.

The 25-year-old actress was driving the car on her way to the set of the TV film Liz Dick, which is about Dame Elizabeth Taylor's relationship with her two-time husband Richard Burton when the accident happen.




"Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set. She was taken to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution. She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident." Lindsay's representatives said in a statement.

Jessica Sanchez and Other 'Idol' Contestants are Coming to Manila

Jessica Sanchez is coming to the Philippines as confirmed by concert producer Ovation Productions.

Jessica will be joined by the rest of the American Idol season 11 Top 10 finalists in the Manila leg of the show's tour this September.

The 16-year-old Filipino-American-Mexican American Idol runner-up, whose mother Editha hails from Bataan, will be performing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for the 2012 edition of the "American Idol LIVE! Tour" on September 21.

The Philippines is the only country outside of North America that is included in the two-month tour, and is slated to be the finale show of the "Idol" finalists.

Anna Maria Perez de Tagle Wins Best Actress for "Godspell"

Filipino-American Anna Maria Perez de Tagle was honored as Best Featured Actress In A Musical in the 10th Annual BroadwayWorld.com Theater Awards Wednesday for her acclaimed performance in the ongoing revival of the musical “Godspell”.

The 21-year-old former Disney star was nominated in her category along with 28 others in the awards that BroadwayWorld.com described as “by far the largest and most popular online Broadway polling event of its kind, open to all and with fully visible and audited results.”

Anna Maria, the granddaughter of legendary Filipina singer Sylvia La Torre, won through an online poll.

“Godspell”, based on a series of parables about the passion of Jesus Christ from the Gospel, is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak that was first staged off-Broadway in 1971. The popularity of the play culminated in a film version starring Victor Garber in 1973.

One highlight of the musical is the cast performance of the popular song “Day By Day”, featuring Anna Maria singing lead.

The current production of “Godspell”, which also stars “High School Musical” cast member Corbin Bleu, also won Best Revival of a Musical in the said awards.
